For sake of an every day example (no pun intended, Mr. Norman), a hinged door affords pushing or pulling.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reference: <\/strong>The term was\u00a0originally invented by the psychologist J. J. Gibson to refer to physical possibilities by properties of an object and was\u00a0famously (in our design world bubble at least) articulated\u00a0by\u00a0Don Norman in his game\u00a0changing book \"The Design of Everyday Things.\" Norman thoughtfully\u00a0writes, \"An affordance is a relationship between the properties of an object \u00a0and the capabilities of the agent that determine just how that object could possibly be used.\"<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thoughts\/Questions: <\/strong>Take note, affordances are all around you!
